CROSSROADS ZINE REVISED by ALESXANDRA GONZALES

What is Crossroads about?

Crossroads is a creative zine designed to showcase the creativity of the LGBTQ+ as their representation gave them an unfair reputation for others to be alienated or be discriminated against for their gender differences. It aims to spread the influence of content creators who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and inspire people to rediscover their gender identity as they have underlying emotions that feel foreign to their usual emotions.

Crossroads also offers venues for creatives in the LGBTQ+ community to showcase their works about their journey of being queer and showcasing their creative worlds to others who are passionate about being themselves.

Featured Illustrations

These illustrations made by Danielle Toca and Alesxandra Gonzales are specifically made for Crossroads that breathe into theme of representation and self exploration, each piece crafted to evoke the moments in each fanfiction in the Zine.

Both the website and zine are presented with a pleasant galaxy-esque aesthetic with some choice colors I believe to reference a little bit of the LGBT flags which if so I think is a nice touch of detail. The illustrations I think are appropriately whimsical looking but also symbolizing the kind of self discovery journey for a lot of these people regarding their identities with so little detail. The featured literary works are well-written and serves to showcase the genuine passion that they have towards representing queer relationships and giving it the amount of care it deserves when writing it and maybe helping their readers discover who they are along the way.

I like how the overall website was able to sync well when it comes to the colors and the content it has to offer. While I was browsing through the zine, I realized that through the illustrations presented and stories, I was able to relate since I am a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, as someone who is a part of specific fandoms, it helps that I understand the lore and ideas behind what was written. In addition, you can really see that both the writers and the artists have dedicated time in order to hone their craft and at the same time being able to use this platform in showcasing their talents and at the same time being able to represent LGBTQ+ community. I do hope that more people read more on this to be able to be informed, educated and be aware that those who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community are not outliers but rather people who are unique in their own ways.
